RN/LPN Med/Surg; FT, Mon-Wed, 6:30p-7a at Johnson Regional Medical Center

• Provides direct and indirect patient care. Communicates with physicians, Nurse Manager, and co-workers about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including diagnostic results and symptomatology. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
• Performs a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy (pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations).
• Assesses and reassesses pain; uses appropriate pain management techniques; educates patient and family on pain management.
• Revises plan of care as indicated by patient response and evaluates daily for effectiveness.
• Performs waived (point-of-care) testing per policy and interprets results, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Ensures care is provided with attention to age-specific needs and safe patient care standards.
• Maintains knowledge of medications and their correct administration; follows the seven medication rights to reduce errors.
• Implements teaching plans based on identified learning needs; includes family in teaching as appropriate.
• Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills; provides treatments to licensure level.
• Demonstrates professional interactions with patients and families, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs; acts as liaison among administration, patients, physicians, and other providers.
• Communicates clearly with Nurse Manager, co-workers, and physicians; maintains good working relationships within and across departments.
• Identifies psychosocial needs of patients and families; communicates with Social Services/Discharge Planner regarding in-hospital and post-discharge needs.
• Documentation adheres to current standards and policies; operates equipment safely and correctly; coordinates and supervises patient care as needed.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations.

• Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean.
• Completes annual education requirements; maintains regulatory requirements and patient confidentiality at all times.
• Keeps current with federal, state, local regulations and accrediting standards; reports to work on time and as scheduled; uses identification and time system correctly.
• Completes in services; attends annual reviews and department in services; participates in at least 12 staff meetings annually or reviews minutes.
• Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner; participates in performance improvement and CQI activities; complies with organizational policies and ethics.
• Communicates the hospital mission, department ethics and goals.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current state Registered Nurse Licensure in the state of practice.
• Current BLS certification.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.

• Basic computer knowledge.

• Mobility, sight, hearing, verbal communication; exposure to varying temperatures and hazards. Frequent standing and walking. Lift up to 100 pounds; carrying up to 40 pounds; pushing/pulling up to 450 pounds.
