Description

We are seeking friendly, organized, and outgoing lead hosts to welcome guests and ensure a smooth, enjoyable dining and theatre experience. As the first point of contact for our guests, the host plays a key role in setting the tone for exceptional service. However, our lead hosts will ensure that the dessert room runs smoothly by organizing the delivery of all desserts in the dining room.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast‑paced, guest‑focused environment and enjoy working as part of a team that serves large audiences during live performances. At Derby Dinner Playhouse, you’ll be part of a creative, high‑energy environment that combines great food with live entertainment. We value teamwork, pride in craftsmanship, and creating memorable experiences for our guests every night.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet guests warmly as they arrive and take them to their assigned table/tables during the first part of your shift
  • Communicate effectively with the serving team and management regarding seating, timing, and guest needs
  • Answer guest questions about the menu, show schedule, and theatre policies
  • Assist with check‑in procedures for reservations and group bookings
  • Coordinate dessert orders with other hosts and organize dessert delivery throughout the arena
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the dessert room
  • Handle special accommodations and accessibility requests with care and professionalism
  • Provide support to servers regarding dessert orders and delivery
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in hospitality, customer service, or hosting preferred
  • Prior experience with ice cream, desserts, or in a bakery is preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Friendly, professional demeanor with a focus on guest satisfaction
  • Ability to remain calm and organized during high‑volume service periods
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
  • Must be available for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, as these are our primary show times
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and move quickly between tables and theatre areas
