Diesel Mechanic Technician

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Louisville, KY

• Hourly Pay: $34.03 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification earned, up to $700
• Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
• Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 after 30 days and $1,250 after 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Monday – Friday or Tuesday – Saturday
• Hours:
  
  Second shift Tuesday – Friday 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm;
  Saturday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
• Basic tools proficiency
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required)
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• All other certifications required by location (required)
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
• Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles; in order to become a Ryder employee you must: obtain CDL within 6 months after hire, pass odr tests, and comply with background checks

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task
• Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Support additional duties as required (e.g., Service Island support)
• Complete required OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within the specified time frames
