The Department of Art + Design at Austin Peay State University is seeking applications for a Tenure Track, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design to join our vibrant department August 1, 2026.

We invite a third faculty member to become a collaborator on our graphic design team and to advance the program.

TheAPSUDepartment of Art + Design is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and offers

BFAand BA degrees with concentrations in Studio Art, Animation and Visual Effects, Graphic Design, Art History, and Art Education. The department consists of nineteen full‑time faculty, three full‑time staff, and fourteen part‑time instructors who celebrate the mission of teaching and innovation in serving 350+ undergraduate majors. We aspire to provide an accepting environment that empowers students to ask questions, think critically, take risks, and develop intellectual and creative curiosity.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Contribute to a culture of student success in the Department of Art + Design
  • Teach three courses each semester in the areas of graphic design and/or foundations
  • Participate in curriculum development, academic advising, and committee work within the department and across campus
  • Pursue ongoing professional activity
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified candidates should have the ability to teach all levels of graphic design, including print, interactive, and/or motion design
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of students and faculty towards the Department of Art + Design’s shared goal of student success
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Minimum Qualifications
  • MFA in Graphic Design or related field conferred by August 2026.
  • A background check will be required of the successful applicant.
