Job SummaryApplies the nursing process to plan and manage care for complex patients. The Vanderbilt Medical Center Staffing Collaborative supports nurse staffing needs as a system-wide resource. This structure allows alternative nursing employment at VUMC, including 13-week assignments within a specific unit. The assignment includes premium pay and optional health benefits.
Assignment DetailsShort-Term Assignment Key Benefits

- Premium Pay - $50/hr

- Assignment in the same hospital (may float between units)
- RNs typically work 36 - 40 hours per week based on unit needs
Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
Locations Available: Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital

Unit Available: Freestanding ED
Shifts: Night shift (6:45p-7:15a)
QualificationsLicensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):
- Registered Nurse
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS
Core
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse Required
- Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program (or equivalent experience)
- 1 year of recent ED RN experience;
Preferred 2 or more years of recent ED RN experience
- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient s care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
- Care Planning (Novice):
Anticipates resource needs, sets priorities, schedules activities, and organizes work within responsibility areas; adapts to changes with minimal disruption. - Nursing Patient Education (Novice):
Provides patient education with fundamental proficiency. - Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Novice):
Performs primary care patient interviews and examinations; gathers pertinent clinical data to aid in referral or care pathways. - Evidence-Based Practice (Novice):
Searches for clinical evidence; generally works under supervision.
