HVAC Service Technician II

Position Summary

Under minimal supervision, performs diagnostic and service work on residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customer to answer questions, resolves problems, and ensures complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customer. Works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.

• Works under minimal supervision to perform residential and/or light commercial service and maintenance calls
• Analyzes, diagnoses, and resolves customer problems in a courteous, professional, timely, and accurate manner
• Diagnoses and performs services on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment as well as accessories in an accurate and timely manner
• Inspects equipment and performs diagnostics on equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Completes routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed or required
• Responsible for delivery and removal of parts and equipment needed to complete service work
• Records all required information on a handheld device and completes forms and paperwork in a neat, timely, complete, and accurate manner; collects payment from customer
• Communicates with dispatch to ensure an accurate status report of activities and availability
• Delivers excellent customer service and sustains high levels of customer satisfaction
• Promotes products and services to the customer and communicates replacement product sales leads to Sales and Service Coordinator
• Ensures company property, vehicles, and tools are properly used, maintained, and accounted for
• Represents the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters and activities
• Follows standard procedures to ensure vehicle is stocked and handles warranty parts returns and restocking as needed
• Performs similar or other duties as needed or assigned

• Reports unsafe acts, conditions and hazards to supervisor immediately
• Reports contraventions of legislation or policy to supervisor immediately
• Corrects substandard acts or conditions within area of control
• Uses and maintains appropriate PPE as prescribed
• Complies with general rules and operates devices as prescribed
• Participates in safety initiatives, teams, or committees
• Reports all injuries or incidents promptly
• Provides input on developing safety initiatives and plans
• Does not perform acts that endanger others; avoids pranks or boisterous behavior
• Works in compliance with applicable laws

• High school diploma or GED with 2+ years’ HVAC experience and technical training certification
• Must possess valid licensing or certification as required by laws for the work area
• EPA and safety certifications required
• Skilled at servicing heating, air conditioning, ventilation equipment and related accessories
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate necessary tools and equipment
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems
• Ability to start up and balance airflow and align belts/pulleys with minimal supervision
• Ability to install basic duct fittings
• Experience repairing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration and hot water systems, steam boilers, humidifiers, and related equipment
• Effective communication skills for customer interaction and issue resolution
• Strong time-management and organizational skills
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts
• Physical ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, access attics/basements, and maneuver in restricted spaces
• Ability to work in various environments and lift up to 75 pounds
