Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional, Special Education Assistant, Special Needs / Learning Disabilities
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a paraprofessional supporting classrooms during a critical leave of absence coverage from late November to mid-January. This contract position offers a fulfilling opportunity to work onsite alongside dedicated educators, providing essential assistance and care that help students reach their potential.
What Were Looking For:
- Current and valid Delaware Para educator Permit (must be in hand; pending permits will not be accepted)
- Experience working in a school setting as a paraprofessional or similar role preferred
- Comfortable supporting diverse learners and working collaboratively with educators
- Ability to provide a recent TB test, fingerprinting clearance, and Child Protective Registry check (see below for requirements)
- Willingness to complete necessary district compliance paperwork and onboarding steps
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in daily classroom activities and student engagement
- Offer individualized or small-group attention to students, helping with lessons and activities
- Support students academic and emotional well-being under the guidance of teaching staff
- Help maintain a safe and welcoming classroom environment
- Collaborate with school personnel for smooth transitions and effective student support
Important Details & Requirements:
- Full-time hours, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Fingerprinting required ($85 fee), to be completed prior to start
- Must successfully complete the district contractor packet (including TB, background checks, permit documentation)
- If you hold an RBT certification, supervision must be arranged independently outside of school hours
