Position: Peer Support Specialist I
Job Type: Part-time / Non‑Exempt
Shift Details: Shift Days - 8:00 am–8:30 pm / Every Other Saturday and Sunday
Work Location: Out‑Patient Community – Wilmington
- $18.00 without DE Peer Certification
- $21.00 with DE Peer Certification

Successful completion of Peer Employment Training, obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist, is required.
The Peer Support Specialist I provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services, assists in creating a recovery environment, and acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of every individual.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Guest Care & Advocacy:
- Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying the participant’s hopes and dreams and the solutions they are seeking.
- Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
- Models hope, personal responsibility and self‑advocacy, demonstrating how recovery goals can be met and how belief in self is maintained.
- Assists in developing natural supports and community living.
- Cultivates connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, environment, and to meaning and purpose).
- Compliance &
Risk Management:- Completes clinical documentation as required.
- Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and Recovery Innovations policies and procedures as they presently exist and as they change.
- Understands and adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as outlined in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
- Cross‑Functional
Collaboration:- Coordinates with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve their goals.
- Additional Duties:
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Education/Licenses:
- Successful completion of Peer Employment Training, obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist, is required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services.
- Skills:
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to teach/train recovery information and recovery tools.
- Effective communication skills.
- Must be able to pass de‑escalation training, as defined by state requirements.
- Driving Requirements:
- If driving is required, must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy.
- If not qualified to drive per policy, a Non‑Driver Attestation form must be signed.
- Miscellaneous Requirements:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old unless a state regulation requires a different minimum age.
- Travel required based on business need.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA) and professionalism.

Employer:
Must pass a seven‑year background check, substance abuse testing (if applicable), tuberculous testing (if applicable), fingerprint clearance (where required), education verification, and motor vehicle report (if driving is required). Must also meet the minimum eligibility criteria set by the insurance carrier.
