Job Summary

The Automation Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance on industrial equipment, including forklift, racking, dock & doors, scissor lifts, tuggers, floor scrubbers, golf carts, robotics, conveyor systems, case sealers & erectors.

Experience

3+ years minimum in Automation; own tools required; strong electrical, mechanical, and office skills; excellent communication and teamwork; able to work assigned schedules and be on call.

Responsibilities
  • Point of contact for customers.
  • Perform and complete preventive maintenance (PM) and repairs.
  • Facilitate work/repair requests and outside vendor work.
  • Provide shift coverage and fill PTO requests.
  • Communicate PTO coverage plans with direct supervisor or customers.
  • Coordinate warranty requests.
  • Facilitate all outside‑of‑scope work.
  • Order parts and manage inventory (5S).
  • Complete daily work orders and attend monthly safety training.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures, conduct root‑cause analysis, and research warranty/rework opportunities using historical data.
  • Complete all repairs in a timely manner following manufacturer guidelines.
  • Make judgments on relative costs and benefits of actions.
  • Conduct equipment audits per PM tools schedule.
  • Communicate with supervisors and coworkers via phone, e‑mail, or in‑person.
  • Maintain accurate and timely entry of work hours in Paylocity time‑keeping platform.
Safety
  • All work must be completed in a safe manner.
  • Adhere to customer and Concentric safety requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Complete safety training modules on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements
  • High School or GED Diploma required.
  • Minimum 3 years automation experience.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (480V, 240V, 24V, 48V).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic and pneumatic prints.
  • Independent work organization.
  • Cross‑cultural teamwork skills.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic plumbing, handyman skills.
  • Minimum 5 years as automation tech/forklift tech/automation bots.
  • Experience with electric forklifts (Crown preferred).
  • Understanding of diagnosing electrical components via wiring diagrams.
  • Willingness to learn vendor training; self‑motivated, goal oriented, and professional.
  • Own hand tools and readiness to purchase needed tools.
  • Pass pre‑employment requirements.
Electrical
  • 480V, VFDs, relays, motor controls, electric motors, HMI, contractors, timers, proximity sensors.
  • Allen Bradley PLC experience a plus.
Mechanical
  • Gearboxes, chains, sprockets, MHE equipment, electric forklifts, hydraulic systems.
  • Arc, MIG, TIG welding experience preferred.

Physical Demands

Requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 100 pounds, and use of PPE. Standard work environment includes moderate to heavy noise; hearing protection may be required.
