Description
The Huntington Community Impact Capital (CIC) Project Manager (underwriter) will lead tax credit equity and debt underwriting and project management of affordable housing LIHTC projects. This role manages internal relationships with the closing teams and external developer relationships and reports to a Project Manager Team Lead.
Key Responsibilities- Lead underwriting and closing for debt facilities and equity investments, ensuring timely closings with all internal and external groups.
- Ensure proposed tax‑credit financed projects comply with all tax provisions required to maximize investment value, including 704(b) capital account analysis.
- Act as the primary contact with developers during the underwriting and closing process and build strong relationships.
- Build financial models of tax benefits, capital account analysis, sources and uses, capital stack, development and operating budgets, and other relevant analyses.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with tax credit developments and IRC Section 42.
- Draft and present comprehensive memoranda summarizing deal structure, budgets, guarantor analysis, compliance, risks and mitigants, and risk ratings.
- Assist in continuous improvement of CIC infrastructure projects and collaborate with CIC colleagues to create best‑in‑class project management, underwriting, closing, and asset management platforms.
- Analyze and structure opportunities prior to issuance of term sheets and work closely with CIC business development.
- Provide regular updates to credit investment and loan teams.
- Train junior employees and analysts.
- Demonstrate strong stewardship over Huntington’s financial and community impact interests.
- Represent the Bank at industry events and participate in policy discussions.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business.
- 4+ years of LIHTC experience.
- 2+ years of LIHTC (or CRE) underwriting and closing experience.
- 6+ years of LIHTC experience.
- 4+ years of LIHTC (or CRE) underwriting and closing experience.
- Tax credit syndication experience.
- Technical knowledge of the LIHTC program.
- Familiarity with state and historic tax credits and debt products.
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel modeling of debt and equity investments.
- Intermediate knowledge of limited partnership agreements and loan documents focused on guarantees and security.
- Intermediate understanding of sponsor financial statements, real‑estate‑owned schedules, contingent liabilities, organizational structures, and business plans.
- Strong presentation skills to credit and other internal stakeholders.

Workplace Type: Office (flexible work arrangement eligible for certain positions outside our branch network).
Compensation Range: $70,000.00 – $ Annual Salary. Compensation may vary based on location, experience, and performance. Eligible for incentive compensation plan and benefits including health insurance, wellness program, retirement savings, paid leave, PTO, and more.
