These positions will work at an assigned park location. Currently, there is a vacancy in the West Area at Creve Coeur Park but the list being created from this posting may be used to fill vacancies throughout the County parks system.
The typical starting salary range is between $16.39 - $19.67 hourly depending upon the candidates qualifications as well as budgetary considerations. - Serves as a lead person of the crew in absence of the park supervisor.
- Cleans and performs maintenance of restrooms, shelters, picnic sites, athletic fields, trails, amphitheater, and other facilities.
- Mows and trims grounds.
- Performs trash removal and pick-up.
- Sets‑up equipment and materials for programs and events.
- Breaks‑down and cleans up after programs and events.
- Assists with snow and ice removal.
- Performs various construction related activities.
- Performs related work as required.
Two years building and grounds maintenance experience preferably including experience in a lead or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Requirements- Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.
Selection Committee will evaluate qualifications of each applicant including recentness and appropriateness of education and experience, answers to supplemental questions, employment references, and additional appropriate information. Only those possessing the most job related qualifications will be admitted to interview. An interview candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required Conviction Questionnaire.
The top five candidates, based on final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority for final decision. All applicants conditionally offered a merit position must submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory and the cost will be covered by the County.
