The St. Louis County Judicial Administration Information Technology Department is a stable, progressive workforce of 12 that supports the work of the St. Louis County Courts. The Audio-Visual Technician position will be one of 5 team members reporting to the IT Supervisor. Work is reviewed for efficient system performance and for quality and timeliness of results obtained.

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of audio and visual equipment, general operating principles and capabilities of computer hardware and software, good interpersonal and customer service skills, and knowledge of troubleshooting and diagnosing technical issues on the phone as well as onsite.

Salary: $28.07 - $43.06 ($58,385 -$89,564). This position is eligible for the 10% addition to pay effective January 12, 2020. This position is eligible for Student Loan Forgiveness.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Troubleshoot, repair, program and maintain the court's audio-visual equipment, including video conferencing equipment, sound recording systems, mobile devices, electronic way finding signage, information kiosks, detention surveillance system and related equipment.
  • Assemble, operate, and disassemble audio and visual equipment for special events, including accounting for all inventory before, during, and after events.
  • Schedule &/or perform preventive A/V equipment maintenance.
  • Provide technical support and training to systems users, including county employees and the public.
  • Conduct training to acquaint users with A/V system capabilities and procedures.
  • Respond to system breakdowns, malfunctions, system failures, and other system problems and initiate corrective action to restore system operation.
  • Assist with daily Help Desk calls and ongoing IT Department projects.

General Duties:
An employee in this position is primarily responsible for the installation, testing, repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Court’s audio and visual equipment and supporting infrastructure.

Examples of Duties:
  • Provide technical support for A/V hardware and software problems through phone or on-site assistance.
  • Assist with special projects and presentations.
  • Keep abreast of current Audio/Visual trends and equipment.
  • Answer Help Desk calls and document progress and solutions.
  • Support Court staff using state and county provided software and hardware, network and local desktops, laptops and printers as well as all peripherals.
  • Configure and deploy IT hardware, including software installation and upgrades, and minor hardware repairs.
  • Respond to system breakdowns, malfunctions, system failures, and other system problems and initiate corrective action to restore system operation.
  • Maintain hardware/software inventory.
  • Physical ability to perform the job includes carrying, standing, and lifting up to 40 lbs. of computer equipment.
Applicant should have significant knowledge and experience with the following:
  • Web Ex and Polycom video conferencing equipment
  • AMX A/V equipment
  • Video streaming
  • Windows operating systems
  • iOS and Android mobile devices
  • Business/Professional use of video conferencing applications, Web Ex, Zoom, Skype or GoTo Meeting
  • For the Record (FTR) Trial Recording software
  • Sound mixing equipment
  • Microsoft Office
Knowledge of the following is highly desirable:
  • Audio/Visual control software systems
  • Digital Signage
  • Stenograph Case Catalyst transcription software
  • Lotus Notes email software
  • Microsoft Active Directory, Server and LAN/WAN systems

Graduation from an accredited college or technical school with an Associate's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is preferred. Audio/Visual certification is desirable. Computer information technology systems experience may be substituted for educational requirements; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

All applicants conditionally offered a permanent part-time, full-time, term or on-call position will be required to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be borne by the County. Applicants will also be required to submit to an extensive background and criminal record check.
