This is a hybrid position at our Clayton, NC facility.
3 days of in office collaboration and 2 days of remote work
Summary:
The Environmental Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of environmental programs for Biomat Facilities throughout North America. Biomat sites consist mainly of plasma & blood donation centers but also include laboratories and offices. The position will be stationed in Clayton, NC. Travel will be required - up to 30%.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Considering Grifols global vision and with respect to global environmental standards, processes and systems -
- Manage compliance activities associated with all applicable local, state and federal regulations related to environmental rules
- Oversee the development of environmental procedures, approval and implementation
- Establish and lead regulatory tracking system and compliance systems
- Develop, implement and monitor site recycling programs
- Develop, implement and monitor site waste reduction efforts
- Work with energy reduction teams to promote an efficient use of resources
- Develop the environmental implementation and training programs across diverse workplace settings operating at multiple sites in NA
- Conduct incident investigations including root cause analysis and recommendations
- Visit sites to gain process knowledge, conduct assessments, introduce new programs and provide training
- Oversee the developing and implementing of the ISO 14001 requirements
- Program development and progress reporting
- Identification, development and justification of environmental projects to include development of concept, feasibility study, scope of work, ROI calculation, budget development, timeline development and funding request
Abilities, Knowledge & Skills:
- Driven individual with self-accountability, capable of accomplishing goals with minimal management oversight
- Experienced self-starter with the knowledge and capability to lead and drive change
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Proven ability to develop and document processes, and to author guidance and standard operating procedures
- Ability to review engineering drawings, process schematics, and design plans to identify environmental risks
Education and Experience
:
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Occupational Health or closely related discipline is required.
- Equivalency:
In lieu of 7 years of experience, candidate must have a minimum of a Master's degree in a closely related scientific / technical discipline, and 3 years of related experience.
- Equivalency:
- Minimum 7 years management experience in an industrial facility setting focused on implementing and sustaining ISO 14001 certification as well as other Environmental programs.
- Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example:
If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
Work is performed in an office and a laboratory/manufacturing environment. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposed to occasional extreme cold below 32
