The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components for industrial equipment. This includes creation of new machinery designs as well as upgrades and retrofits to existing systems. The role requires developing innovative solutions, preparing detailed technical drawings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure all designs meet performance, safety, and cost standards. The position reports to the Engineering Manager and involves leading design projects from concept through completion.

• Perform mechanical machine design tasks including component sizing/selection, generating Bills of Materials (BOMs), and maintaining accurate technical and maintenance documentation.
• Design mechanical systems and products for industrial applications.
• Develop and refine 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD software.
• Collaborate with the design team to produce sketches, layouts, and design plans.
• Develop product specifications and select appropriate raw materials and components.
• Provide technical guidance on manufacturability, machining, welding, and assembly processes.
• Build prototypes and test models to evaluate performance and functionality.
• Analyze test data and compare results with prior or similar designs.
• Ensure all technical documentation and BOMs remain accurate and updated.
• Perform engineering calculations, simulations (including FEA/CFD), and prototype evaluations to validate design performance.
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality protocols.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support project and departmental goals.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required (Master's preferred).
• Five years of relevant mechanical design experience preferred.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Inventor preferred) and MS Office.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent problem-solving and creative design skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to travel up to ~25%.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.

• 2-5 years of experience in mechanical design for industrial machinery or related sectors.
• Familiarity with thermal systems, fluid mechanics, and automation equipment.
