Technical Source is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support a major pharmaceutical client in Clayton, NC. This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to take on a high‑impact role supporting the design, specification, and commissioning of mechanical utility systems in a cutting‑edge pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will bring at least 6 years of experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry, and a strong foundation in problem‑solving, technical design, and utility system integration.

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer
, this role offers the chance to work on complex, mission‑critical systems while growing your technical expertise and leadership capabilities as part of a collaborative, forward‑thinking team.

Responsibilities of the Lead Mechanical Engineer include:
  • Design experience in at least two of the following system types: steam, chilled water, heating hot water, compressed air, natural gas, plumbing
  • Drive end‑to‑end project execution by managing vendor evaluations, supervising field construction, resolving contractor inquiries, approving submittals, and ensuring accurate as‑built documentation, commissioning, and turnover packages.
  • Act as the site subject matter expert (SME) for utility infrastructure, analyzing and optimizing existing systems to support new FDA‑licensed pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, and ensuring all designs meet regulatory and company standards.
Qualifications of the Lead Mechanical Engineer include:
  • 6+ years experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in a large manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in Utility System Design
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field) from an accredited institution. Ability to obtain a North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
