The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for a Meter Technician in the Operations Management Department. The Town employs over 340 full-time staff across police, fire, and electric utilities, along with various part-time positions in Parks & Rec, Library, and Cultural Arts.

An employee in this role will manage meter data from automated metering infrastructure (AMI), verify data transfer, investigate issues, perform manual meter readings, connect/disconnect services, and conduct meter maintenance and repairs. Work is performed independently in the field using a Town vehicle, under general supervision, with safety precautions for hazards and animals.
Use AMI system to complete work orders and manage meter data.
Perform manual meter readings and assist with billing inquiries.
Monitor and troubleshoot AMI system for issues.
Replace and repair electric and water meters, install remote meters, and program meters accurately.
Respond to customer inquiries about water usage, leaks, and system operation.
Possess knowledge of street layouts, safety hazards, and customer service policies.
Perform data entry accurately, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience. Consideration of education and experience will be evaluated.
