An Architect III is a licensed professional who exercises a high level of independent judgment in the design, planning, and coordination of architectural projects. This role includes technical and design leadership, limited project management, and mentorship of junior staff. Architect III staff are expected to contribute to project delivery across all phases, support client and consultant coordination, and assist firm leadership in advancing quality and innovation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lead the development of design and technical solutions for assigned projects.
- Manage project documentation and coordinate across all phases (Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration).
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and contractors; may serve as day-to-day contact on smaller projects.
- Lead and coordinate small project teams (typically 1–3 staff members), assembled from across the firm for specific projects, ensuring collaboration and quality in assigned work.
- Mentor interns and Architect I–II staff, supporting professional growth.
- Review drawings, specifications, and deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct code and zoning research and ensure adherence to applicable regulations.
- Oversee quality control and contribute to firm-wide technical standards.
- Contribute to proposals, interviews, and marketing efforts in collaboration with senior staff.
- Support firm leadership on design direction and operational goals.
- Share expertise in specific building types or project sectors.
- Strong design and technical skills, with demonstrated ability to resolve architectural challenges.
- Proficiency in BIM software (e.g., Revit) and other industry-standard tools.
- Knowledge of building systems, construction methods, codes, and regulations.
- Effective leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple project assignments and deadlines.
- Professional degree in architecture from an accredited institution
- 7 years of professional architectural experience
- Experience managing project documentation and coordinating across disciplines.
