Job Title: Adjunct Political Science Instructor

Location: Lake County Campus - Clear Lake, CA

Job Description

Basic Function:

  • Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Political Science courses up to 10 hours per week.
  • Organize and teach all levels of Political Science classes.
  • Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning.
  • Teach during day, evening, and/or weekend assignments, including distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses.
  • Assess student learning outcomes each semester.
  • Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees as desired.

Required Duties: Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications stated below:

  • Master’s in political science, government, or international relations;
    or
  • Bachelor’s in any of the above and and
  • Master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, ethnic studies, JD, or LL.B.;
    or
  • The equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with teaching experience that demonstrates the clear ability to teach Political Science to community college students.

Range/Step:
Step 1 - Step 7 (Based on degree and teaching experience).

Part‑time (less than 0.60 FTE): Part‑time positions are not entitled to any district paid fringe benefits.
