We are currently seeking a Tool Engineer level 3 to join our team in Clearfield, Utah.
Job DescriptionThe Tool Engineer level 3 is responsible for the concept, design, analysis, documentation, fabrication support, and inspection of tooling and equipment used in aerospace manufacturing. This role works closely with manufacturing, operations, vendors, and cross‑functional engineering teams to ensure tooling meets quality, cost, schedule, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Develop tooling concepts and support equipment for new and existing programs
- Design tooling and equipment, including engineering drawings, inspection requirements, and verification plans
- Perform stress analysis to ensure mechanically sound designs per Northrop Grumman requirements
- Work closely with Tool Designers to create and finalize drawings
- Review designs for manufacturability, fit, form, and function
- Manage tooling projects, including cost, schedule, procurement, and fabrication
- Interface with internal customers and design review teams to ensure requirements are met
- Support vendors during fabrication and inspect fabricated tooling for drawing compliance
- Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, and process engineering to support program quality, delivery, and cost objectives
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and proactive problem‑solving Safety, Process, and Compliance
- Design safe and efficient tooling layouts and manufacturing processes
- Identify and mitigate safety risks in accordance with HOPs (Hazards Operation Standard)
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including DOD 4145.26 ATF
- Work closely with Hazards Analysis and Cross‑Functional Engineering teams
- Incorporate safety interlocks, standardization, and remote operations into tooling processes
- Support investigations related to root cause analysis, non‑conformances, and process failures

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine‑hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Master of Science with 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Experience in engineering, design, and fabrication of special tooling and support equipment
- Ability to evaluate vendor capabilities for tooling and aerospace part production
- Experience with stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA)
- NX modeling experience
- FEA software experience (Abaqus preferred; ANSYS acceptable)
- Passion for designing and manufacturing support hardware
