Senior Engineering Drafter

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Engineering Drafter to support a growing engineering documentation and drafting program within a highly regulated environment. This individual will be responsible for incorporating engineering changes into technical drawings, maintaining associated documentation packages, performing quality reviews, and helping improve drafting and documentation processes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands‑on drafting work and process development.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

Update and maintain engineering drawings, technical documentation, and change packages based on approved engineering changes.

Develop, revise, and validate 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software.

Perform quality control reviews on engineering documentation and peer‑produced drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Support the creation and improvement of drafting, documentation, and review processes.

Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and cross‑functional teams to implement workflow improvements.

Track drawing revisions and ensure documentation is properly released and maintained within engineering repositories.

Ensure all work adheres to applicable drafting standards, engineering specifications, and quality requirements.

Skills and Requirements

7+ years of experience supporting engineering drafting, CAD design, technical documentation, or engineering data management

Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance Hands‑on experience with AutoCAD and engineering drawing development

Experience incorporating engineering changes into drawings and documentation packages

Strong understanding of drafting standards, configuration control, and document revision processes

Experience conducting quality reviews of engineering drawings and technical documentation

Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to work independently

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Experience with 3D modeling tools such as Solid Works, Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar software

Background supporting government, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries

Experience developing drafting procedures, work instructions, handbooks, or process documentation

Familiarity with ASME or other engineering drawing standards

Active, previous, or eligible Secret Security Clearance
