• Customer service experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).

• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.

• Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers.
• Cashiers process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Checkers understand the POS system and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP, EBT, WIC, rain checks, coupons and loyalty offers.
• Checker must adhere to the company’s limits on cash shortages and overages.
• Cashier must adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
