• The starting pay for this position ranges from $12.00 to $13.20 per hour, depending upon experience.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of routine duties as needed to ensure the success of scheduled events, programs, games, and competitions for either youth or adult participants.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the general supervision of the Recreation or Arts Program Supervisor or Recreation Site Supervisor.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

None.

Examples of Duties

• Provide direct leadership to participants enrolled in general recreation activities or arts programs.
• Assist in implementing a variety of recreational activities such as arts and crafts, games and special events.
• Render routine first aid to injured participants.
• Attend regularly scheduled events, games, programs, or departmental training to assure efficient operations; set up equipment and assure availability of program resources; serve as official departmental representative; mediate disputes between players, spectators and officials; control the game or event by enforcing established rules, regulations and requirements.
• Assist with the operation and activities of programs such as theater productions, youth choir, community choir, community band, instructional classes, instructional camps and special events; help with theatrical design, including scenic painting, prop construction, etc.
• Act as official score keeper; make final determinations related to winning teams; assist in field preparation and maintenance as necessary; ensure proper maintenance of equipment and recreation facilities.
• Perform scheduled upkeep and maintenance of facility and/or park; clean floors, walls, windows, etc.; sweep and dust.
• Complete required reports and submit them in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications Education And Experience

• Sufficient education and training to demonstrate an aptitude or ability to perform the listed and related duties.

Special Qualifications

• Must pass a background check.

Must possess the following within one (1) month of hire:

• Red Cross CPR/First-Aid certification
• CDC Concussion Training

Additional Qualifications/Information Essential Functions, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Some knowledge of the rules and regulations of a variety of sports and recreational activities; that are used in a comprehensive community recreation program. OR knowledge of the methods and techniques in relation to the arts a culture programs, ability to assist with classes, camps and all other arts and culture programs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, various age groups, other organizations and the public; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

Work Environment

Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching. Work requires flexible schedules including evenings, weekends and holidays.
