Job Summary

In addition to the general staff RN job description, the WCU staff RN will be responsible for the care of women from childbearing through geriatric years and infants up to 28 days of life, supervising and coordinating care with other disciplines. This position is represented by RCHEA.

Education and Qualifications
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Basic computer skills.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    At least one-year labor and delivery experience, nursery experiences (any level) and postpartum experience is appreciated.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • LICENSE OR

    CERTIFICATIONS:

    AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (Basic within 90 days and 2 day intermediate within 6 months of hire), ACLS & STABLE preferred.
  • LICENSE OR

    CERTIFICATIONS:

    Current BLS certification.
  • LICENSE OR

    CERTIFICATIONS:

    Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of California.
  • LICENSE OR

    CERTIFICATIONS:

    Current NRP and hospital conscious sedation certification. If not current, new employees will have 90 days in which to complete these requirements.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    Basic computer skills.

  • POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO BLOOD & BODY FLUIDS:
    Category 1 for potential exposure to blood/body fluids. (Requires the performance of procedures or other tasks in the work routine that involve an inherent potential for mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them. Protective measures should be used while engaged in Category 1 tasks with exposure potential.)
  • This job requires frequent bending (including the body bending from the waist), squatting, kneeling, climbing, work with arms above shoulder height, work with arms at shoulder height, standing, talking, hearing and performing repetitive hand motions. This job requires frequent transferring of patients including pulling, lifting or pushing a patient side to side, to a sitting position, to a standing position, or laterally.

    The employee will frequently push patients in wheelchairs, gurneys and beds. The employee must demonstrate a pull lift of 50 pounds from the floor. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally be sitting and walking inclines and declines. The employee will not be driving or climbing ladders.

  • Accurately charges for patients and unit supplies.
  • Administers and controls narcotics and medications.
  • Administers IV fluids according to the PCS Policy and Procedure.
