Adventist Health Clear Lake, located in Northern California, is a 25‑bed critical access hospital that provides primary and specialty care throughout Lake County. The role is based here and requires a registered nurse to supervise the nursing team during variable shifts on a per-diem basis.
Job SummaryProvides overall supervision of hospital operations in collaboration with the administrative/executive team. Makes administrative decisions, collaborates with Nursing Directors and other departments, ensures patient and staff safety, and oversees the functioning of the organization. Assists with clinical functions and directs the activities of assigned personnel using professional discretion and independent judgment.
Job Requirements – Education & Work Experience- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent education/experience (Required)
- Master’s Degree (Preferred)
- Five years of technical nursing experience (Preferred)
- One year of experience in a critical care setting (Preferred)
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice (Required)
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS, HS-BLS, or RQIBLS) certification (Required)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS, HS-ACLS, or RQIACLS) certification required for all facilities except Behavioral Health (Required)
- Clinical specialty or nursing administration certification (Preferred)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS, HS-PALS, or RQIPALS) certification (Required)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (Required)
- Supervise nursing personnel and operations through regular rounds; assess patient conditions, develop interdisciplinary plans of care, and respond to acute unit codes.
- Facilitate hospital throughput by managing bed placement, patient transfers, and discharges; coordinate bed huddles; participate in discharge planning with physicians, social workers, and other staff.
- Supervise professional and ancillary personnel; orient and train new staff; oversee quality of patient care through observation, documentation review, and staff coaching.
- Maintain unit-based staffing to meet patient needs while observing regulatory mandates, budget guidelines, and hospital needs.
- Evaluate employee, patient, family, and physician complaints; respond courteously, resolve problems within delegated authority, or consult with administration.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
