Client OverviewOur client, a leading manufacturer of aviation and avionics equipment, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team based in Clearwater, FL. This is an incredible opportunity for a Staff Accountant to be involved in a highly visible position while earning the opportunity to become a Manager quickly.
Salary$70k – $80k
Position OverviewThe Staff Accountant will report directly to the Assistant Controller and primarily assist in general assurance that accounting is accurate, specifically during the month close. This position will serve as a lead on the A/P function, supported by a team, and will be responsible for year‑end reporting (1099s) and ensuring A/P is reconciled monthly.
Responsibilities- Prepare and process journal entries and reconciliations monthly.
- Responsible for the analysis of inventory and fixed assets.
- Hold monthly meetings for fixed assets to track project progress and hold responsible parties accountable.
- Provide monthly reporting packages and variance analysis for internal stakeholders.
- Process and oversee the A/P function, process electronic payments, and distribute checks.
- Continue to improve the payment process by increasing ACH adoption.
- Prepare audit requests.
- Submit quarterly information requests to corporate.
- Check payroll information for accuracy.
- Coordinate 1099 distribution and year‑end reporting.
- Work in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Willing to work weekends as needed.
- Experience in both operational and financial accounting functions.
- Prefer one to five years of experience in an accounting role.
- Organization, attention to detail, and sense of urgency.
- Extensive internal and external customer communication.
- Must be able to make independent decisions on routine office activities.
- Experience with a manufacturing organization.
- Proficiency with One Stream, Exact Max, MS Dynamics Great Plains, Expensify, and Blackline.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent related business degree is required.
