After School Wellness Instructor – Kids Power Program
Location:
YMCA of the Suncoast, Association Office – North Pinellas County, Tampa, FL
Pay: $14.35/hr – $14.95/hr
Shift: Afternoon shift Monday – Friday
Job Summary
:
The Healthy Living department is seeking a Kids Power Program Instructor to co‑facilitate the Kids Power after‑school wellness program at YMCA after‑school care sites located in North Pinellas and Pasco Counties. Responsibilities include travel, preparation, setup, curriculum delivery, and data tracking for healthy living education sessions in elementary school settings.
Qualifications
:
- Must be 16 years old or older.
- Ability to teach safe and effective classes.
- Prior experience in a specialty area preferred.
- Upon hire:
Intro to the Y’s Cause & Culture, Y’s Way to Service & Engagement, and I Hear You:
Service with CARE. - Get SMART, CPR/AED and First Aid training preferred.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate patience.

:
- Articulate and communicate effectively while instructing participants.

Physical & Mental Requirements
:
- Ability to instruct classes while using effective communication and human‑relation skills.
- Capacity to conduct, demonstrate, and safely lead a classroom of adults and/or children.
Job Duties
:
- Follow YMCA of the USA teaching guidelines.
- Responsible for delivery of instructional content of class.
- Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or violate the code of conduct.
- Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facility, and care for equipment.
- Takes responsibility for certain housekeeping duties.
- Exercises sound judgment in relation to class safety and follows all emergency procedures.
- Engages in positive public relations with members.
- Attend all staff meetings, in‑house trainings, demonstrations and special promotions as designated by supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Reports all serious incidents.
