Medical Assistant Adjunct Instructor
Join Ultimate Medical Academy as a full‑time Medical Assistant Adjunct Instructor. We are a national non‑profit healthcare educational institution headquartered in Tampa, Florida, founded in 1994, offering online programs and hands‑on training at our Clearwater campus.
Purpose of the PositionAs an instructor you will deliver core content, laboratory skills, and professionalism instruction. You will model and evaluate student demonstrations, provide academic remediation, manage student information, maintain high engagement, and support program goals of retention, certification, graduation, and placement.
Key Responsibilities- Teach approved curriculum according to schedules and deadlines.
- Prepare each week’s instruction and demonstrate proficiency with relevant software and materials.
- Evaluate coursework against learning outcomes and help students fully attain objectives.
- Grade assignments and assessments, posting grades promptly.
- Provide constructive feedback to students.
- Appraise students’ academic status and offer ongoing support.
- Remain available through office hours and individual sessions.
- Create a positive, student‑centered learning environment.
- Develop and implement curricular scaffolding tools tailored to student needs.
- Support students requiring intervention and outreach to at‑risk students.
- Communicate effectively by e‑mail, telephone, and in‑person with students and staff.
- Supervise student externship experiences.
- Provide tutoring and laboratory skill instruction as assigned.
- Deliver distance education for the online campus, coordinating with on‑ground responsibilities.
- Attend required meetings and advise on academics, attendance, career readiness, and professionalism.
- Participate in curriculum development based on expertise and student performance indicators.
- Identify barriers to student success and collaborate on solutions.
- Maintain up‑to‑date faculty files per UMA policy and regulations.
- Perform additional duties to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow all applicable federal and state compliance requirements.
- Communicate compliance requirements to students and staff, escalating concerns to the Compliance department.
- Build a culture of accountability and high performance.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top performers.
- Implement effective onboarding for every team member.
- Set clear expectations and analyze results to improve performance.
- Ensure UMA values are demonstrated and policies followed.
- Stay current on institutional goals and progress.
- Engage in sponsored activities and initiatives.
- Lead with courage in change initiatives.
- Coordinate efforts between departments.
- Follow all federal and state compliance requirements.
- Communicate requirements to students and staff, escalating concerns.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Equivalence of 15 semester credit hours in the subject field.
- Academic preparation in the specific courses taught.
- Graduation from a healthcare field program.
- Minimum of three (3) years of occupational experience.
- Active industry certification/licensure consistent with instruction.
- Professional verbal and written English communication.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Teams.
- Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Brightspace or another LMS.
- Experience with Campus Nexus or another SIS.
- Experience with asynchronous instructional tools.
- One to three years of post‑secondary teaching experience.
- Demonstrated success in applying adult learning principles.
- Office Environment – Must be on campus at 1255 Cleveland Street, Clearwater, FL.
- Up to 10% travel required.
- Instructional Environment – Office, classroom, laboratory; visits to employer and healthcare sites as needed.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Perform all clinical skills and tasks requiring use of hands, arms, and legs.
