This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering & works closely with the Business Unit Manager & Project Manager. Acting as the Project Engineer (PE), this role defines avionics system, software, & hardware requirements & manages them through development, verification, & qualification testing.

• Conceptualize, analyze, design, develop, & integrate air data systems from concept through delivery.
• Own full lifecycle ( cradle to grave ) of new product development.
• Lead proposal efforts including design concepts, compliance matrix, cost estimates, & timelines.
• Utilize requirements management tools for traceability, decomposition, change analysis, & V&V.
• Write system requirements & decompose into lower levels for aerospace technologies including:
  • MIL STD 1553
  • ARINC 429
  • RS 485
  • CAN
  • Ethernet
  • USB
• Power supply design for electronics & aircraft heaters
• Air data computing using CPUs, DSPs, microcontrollers
• Control circuitry including PID & LQG controllers
• Dynamic response modeling of avionics equipment
• Mathematical modeling of air data systems with uncertainty stack-ups

• Support hardware/software engineering teams with requirement interpretation.
• Write test requirements for qualification & acceptance testing.
• Support sustaining engineering for existing products.

• 6+ years engineering experience in aerospace new product development.
• Bachelor s degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
• Must be able to work with ITAR-regulated products & data.
• Experience leading teams for proposals & new business pursuits.
• Excellent written, oral, & reporting skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability & flexibility in dynamic environments.
• Experience with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, DO 178B, DO 160, DO 254 preferred.
• Experience in electronic hardware/firmware design for avionics/flight controls.
• Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, Reqtify, etc.).
• Experience using modern configuration management & issue-tracking tools.

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs ( rare ).
• Extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, or moving.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.

• 10% travel.
• Indoor, environmentally controlled workspace.
• Requires common PPE & tolerance for noise.
• Repetitive movements; extended sitting expected.
