This role offers a pay range of $25.12/hr to $28.00/hr based on skills and experience.

Location: 14 S. Fort Harrison Avenue, Clearwater, FL 33756

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in safety and loss control programs, including the development and presentation of occupational safety and health training programs.
  • Prepare OSHA, DOT, and EPA facility audits.
  • Perform investigations of accidents and incidents.
  • Coordinate and participate in Accident and Safety Review Board and Safety Council meetings and promote, develop, and implement Action Teams.
  • Conduct safety inspections at all worksites to assure compliance with OSHA, state, and County directives, standards, and laws and inspect facilities for hazardous conditions.
  • Recommend changes and additions to ensure compliance with fire protection and prevention requirements.
  • Communicate recognized standards covering workplace safety, fire prevention techniques, and procedures, fire prevention ordinances, and fire-related building codes.
  • Implement corrective action through use of tact and firmness in dealing with all levels of management in gaining acceptance of good occupational safety, health, and fire prevention practices.
  • Conduct an information program and secure client involvement in fire prevention, detection, and suppression.
  • Interact with a wide variety of employees and others in all aspects of fire prevention.
  • Coordinate established fire watch programs with designated building, facility, or installation program representatives and fire marshals.
  • Participate with occupational safety and health committees along with fire prevention officials on matters to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Develop materials and provide situational and classroom training on numerous occupational, safety, and health topics.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and meetings to ascertain new developments or changes in the law pertaining to assignments.
  • Perform related work as assigned or required.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience leading training classes, both in person or virtually; previous experience with on‑site inspections and safety investigations.
  • Education: Major coursework in occupational safety/health, risk management, public administration, business administration, or related field.
  • 6+ years’ experience as described above.
  • Associate’s degree as described above, and at least 4 years of experience as described above.
  • Bachelor’s degree as described above, and at least 2 years as described above.
  • Master’s or higher‑level degree as described above.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver’s License or Florida Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
Highly Desirable
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Designation.
  • OSHA Train‑the‑Trainer Certification.
  • Experience in OSHA standards for road work and utility crew work.
  • Experience in General Industry Standards.
