Utilities Engineering Division Director

The Engineering Division Director is responsible for all engineering activities in support of the County and Utilities department strategic plan. The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively deliver a robust Capital Improvement Program (CIP) aimed to enhance water, wastewater, and reclaimed water infrastructure.

Essential Tasks Functions

• Oversees critical emergency response support for storm related activities and other incidents

• Preparation of materials for board agenda items.

• Preparation and delivery of presentations to the Board of County Commissioners

• Provides recommendations, presentations, and reports on a variety of planning related functions.

• Manages the Department and/or contractor project closeout activities and prepares operating and maintenance manuals; supervises the preparation, revision, updating, and distribution of the Department's standards on specifications and estimating.

• Manages the planning, development and implementation of long- and short-range comprehensive plans for the Department by developing goals, objectives, strategies, policies, procedures and budgets.

• Oversees the Utilities development review services which directly interfaces with residents, developers and businesses

• Ensures work complies with regulatory and environmental requirements, best management practices, and industry standards; interacts with regulatory agencies.

• Negotiates critical and/or controversial issues with top-level engineers, managers, Division and Department Directors; conducts presentations and may represent the Department and/or County at important functions or conferences. Cultivates good rapport with other Sections throughout the organization and external entities to maintain productive levels of communication.

• Ensures efficient tracking of Division performance measures.

• Leads and/or participates on various cross-departmental teams to address specialized projects, policies, and complex issues.

• Provides solutions to challenges, concise communication, and reports on a variety of planning related functions;
