Job Summary: The Orthopedic ARNP/PA will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our surgical team by providing advanced care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, managing in office-based visits and clinical care, and rounding on in-hospital patients. The ARNP/PA must have experience in orthopedic surgery, fracture care, and management of orthopedic patients.
Objectives of this Role:
- Conduct pre-operative assessments of patients to determine their medical status and readiness for surgery.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on medical history, surgical requirements, and patient needs.
- Prescribe and administer medications.
- First assist in surgical procedures to include but not limited to: assisting with visualization, placement and holding of retractors, assisting on approach, and closure of wounds.
- Management of post-operative care of patients, including post-operative pain, wound evaluations, and post-operative rehab.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development to maintain current knowledge and skills.
Required Skills And Qualifications
- Highly skilled at patient assessments, diagnosing, and treatment of orthopedic related illness and post-operative conditions.
- Proficiency in the operating room and sterile technique.
- Skilled at inter-professional collaboration for co-management of patients and complex conditions.
- Master's degree in Nursing or Master’s degree in Medical Science for Physician’s Assistant
- Must hold current unencumbered license/registration to practice
- Ability to travel to multiple locations, depending on business or patient need
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in EHR medical charting system, such as eCW (eClinical Works) and other computer software needed
- Bilingual, Spanish speaking
