ENTRY SALARY: $18.33/HR
CURRENT RECRUITMENT IS FOR THE PARKS & RECREATION CENTER @ N. GREENWOOD LOCATION
- Perform consistent and professional customer service for the recreation facility patrons and community; respond to program inquiries, provide registration guidance and direction, and promote recreation programs, facilities, and classes.
- Maintain, clean, and perform general upkeep duties for the recreational facilities; wipe windows, remove trash, replace supplies, monitor general cleanliness and organization of the facilities; count cash drawers, deposit cash, and monitor balances.
- Manage, monitor, update, and set the facility program calendar; set up classes, determine prices, change seasonal programs, and ensure all programs run smoothly.
- Greet, engage, register, direct, and perform all check‑in duties for the recreation facilities; answer phones, provide online responses, and ensure all patrons have necessary information.
- Research, gather, and compile information for potential day trips and other offerings; arrange transportation, prepare pricing, and attend trips when needed.
- Create and prepare contracts for instructors within the recreation facilities; review programs and classes, identify patron attendance levels, and calculate disbursements based on information.
- Manage, support, and assist with youth and adult programs; create informational documents for participants regarding dates, activities, and requirements.
- Perform any and all duties and tasks required or necessary to ensure all programs and centers work well and meet community needs; process payments, run reports, manage center care, and ensure efficiency and flow of the recreational facilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Program emphasis on planning and implementing activities for school‑aged children in youth after‑school and summer programs.
A valid State driver’s license is required.
- Candidates must possess or obtain Department of Children & Families (DCF) 40‑Clock‑Hours training within 15 months of hire date.
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, G.E.D. Certificate PLUS one (1) year of customer service, recreation, sports, arts, or other social activities preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of- Customer service and engaging with facility patrons
- City recreational programs, classes, and activities
- Facility maintenance and organization
- First aid and how to maintain order and discipline in stressful situations
- Record keeping, report preparation, filing methods, and records
- General office policies and procedures; computers and general office equipment
- Organizing work and setting priorities to meet deadlines
- Engaging with patrons and directing them to appropriate programs
- Researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of informational and statistical data
- Establishing good relationships with patrons and fellow staff
- Operating a computer with proficiency, typing and software
