Building Maintenance, Maintenance Worker
ENTRY SALARY: $41,221.28
POSITION OPEN UNTIL FILLED
Under general supervision, the Wastewater Collections Technician performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of sanitary sewers for the Public Utilities Department. Handles public complaints and concerns.
Essential FunctionsEssential duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in installation, maintenance, and repair of collection system components.
- Removing, cleaning, and disposing of debris; digging trenches; assisting in pipe laying.
- Supporting shop or yard activities such as cleaning, painting, and routine maintenance.
- Operating and maintaining equipment like trucks, saws, and mixers.
- Making taps, installing and replacing fittings, and minor repairs on pipes.
- Maintaining wastewater infrastructure and locating water and sewer lines.
- Installing, testing, and repairing mains, taps, and related equipment.
- Supporting welders and other trades workers.
- Performing standby duties, responding to emergencies, and working flexible hours.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
A valid State driver's license is required. Must obtain and maintain a Florida Water & Pollution Control Operators Class C Wastewater Collections Certificate within two years of hire. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required; candidates must obtain a CLP within 6 months and a Class A CDL within 2 years.
Equipment operated includes backhoe, dump trucks, pumps, saws, hand tools, radios, and computers.
Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent plus one year of semi-skilled labor experience in maintenance or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
