Suncoast Fleet Services (SFS) is a family-owned full service mobile commercial fleet repair company serving Pinellas County, Florida. SFS is a Fleet Services International, LTD dealer powered by Petty’s Garage. Our Mission is to be the leading provider of fleet repair in Pinellas County, Florida. We seek to obtain and keep our customers by providing superior customer service, timely response and accurate repairs and maintenance.

Our goal is for Fleet Managers and Business Owners to view us as a necessary partner and advisor of choice for many generations.

We are looking for Fleet Diesel Mechanics for Central Pinellas County. Starting pay ranges from $21-$27.00 depending on experience with automatic 10% raise after one year. Additionally, we are offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus. Details will be discussed during interview.

Purpose

Perform maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on cars, trucks, trailers and off-road equipment in a safe, efficient, quality minded and customer focused manner.

Responsibilities/Key Result Areas

  • Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize the safety, productivity, and life of the unit. (Degree of importance: Average 60% of job)
  • Perform DOT inspections
  • Perform preventive maintenance on trucks such as fluid changes, lubrications, safety inspections, and brake repairs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on off-road equipment such as lubrications, adjustments, cutting tip replacements, and safety inspections.
  • Examine vehicle to determine if any additional safety or repair work is needed.
  • Perform repair work on vehicles such as breakdowns, malfunctions and emergency roadside repair in a safe, efficient, and quality manner. (Degree of importance: High- 25% of job)
  • Perform operation test prior to repairs to verify compliant.
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturers specifications including engines, transmissions and clutches, suspension and steering, fuel and ignition (gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC systems
  • Follow paper-flow procedures including documenting correct mileage/hours, save and tag all warranty and core parts, document all repairs on work order using complaint, cause, and correction format, follow parts ordering/billing procedures.
  • Perform final operational test on all vehicles to quality-check all repairs.
  • Ensure that customers vehicles are kept clean and washed after repair is completed
  • Inspect, maintain and repair trailers, heavy construction equipment, roll-up doors, lift equipment to maintain the safety and reliability of the unit. (Degree of importance: Average- 10% of job)
  • Visually inspect structural integrity of aerial lift equipment and report any deficiencies so that they may be corrected.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to aerial devices in accordance with manufacturer and ANSI guidelines and in a timely manner to maximize the life and productivity of the equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repair welding on equipment. Fabricate parts as required including any design work needed (Degree of importance: Low- 5% of job)
  • Inspect for cracks or damage to assess needed repair
  • Fabricate parts as needed to complete repair including any design work
  • Perform welding repair to manufacturer’s guidelines
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills

  • Must be able to work overtime, and on-call when necessary.
  • Able to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb to heights of at least 50 feet frequently.
  • Able to speak clearly and listen attentively.
  • Must be able to lift at least 100lbs.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Safety minded.
  • Sound computer knowledge.
  • Basic cell phone/texting capabilities.
  • Have a current Driver's License with acceptable DMV record.
  • ASE Certified or willing to obtain in a reasonable time frame.
Required Experience

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent.
  • At least 3+ years’ experience as a diesel mechanic working on commercial trucks and has their own tools.
  • DOT Inspections.
  • History of working safely.
