Job Purpose and Summary

Within our retail locations, pharmacy technicians play a critical role in supporting pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise by ensuring operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled accurately and safely, and patients receive caring service that exceeds expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow all SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage patient health.
  • Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pickup, drive‑thru and drop‑off stations.
  • Deliver positive patient experiences through empathy and personalized service, including immunizations where authorized.
  • Conduct basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks and waiting‑bin inventories.
  • Support a high‑performing team by embracing a growth mindset, seeking feedback, and expanding clinical knowledge.
  • Be flexible for scheduling and travel to stores as business needs dictate.
  • Comply with all federal, state, local laws, regulations, professional standards and CVS policies for patient safety, controlled substance dispensation and privacy.
  • Provide additional patient health care services such as immunizations, point‑of‑care testing and off‑site clinic staffing when authorized.
Additional Immunization Responsibilities (if applicable)
  • Obtain Technician Immunizer status through state Board of Pharmacy licensing and training.
  • Educate patients on vaccine importance and refer to pharmacist for dosing questions.
  • Monitor and report adverse reactions per public health requirements.
  • Collect and document patient information and track vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Meet all state board of pharmacy requirements, including age, education and licensure/certification.
  • At least 16 years of age if no minimum age requirement is specified.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or active enrollment in a high school equivalency program if no minimum education requirement is specified.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification as required.
Essential Functions
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Complete required training within designated timeframe.
  • Attention and focus: concentrate, pivot quickly, confirm prescription accuracy.
  • Customer service and team orientation: friendly assistance, read patient reactions.
  • Communication skills: verbal and written, active listening, clear instruction delivery.
  • Mathematical reasoning: calculate tablets, days supply, bottle counts.
  • Problem resolution: handle challenging interactions and choose best actions.
  • Physical demands: mobile, lift up to 20 lbs, repetitive finger use, fine visual acuity.
  • Other duties as directed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years prior Pharmacy Technician experience.
  • Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical or customer service settings.
  • Willingness to work home store and other market locations.
