Sr. Operations Manager

Description

Our Senior Operations Managers are responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operations objectives. They oversee all aspects of operations at the site, managing a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaching and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations, and strengthening the leadership bench within the Fulfillment Center.

• Drive the creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and other Lean initiatives to enable the functional area and ultimately the FC to meet and exceed business plan.
• Responsible for the overall safety, quality, performance, and customer experience of either Inbound or Outbound operations.
• Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers; measure performance, provide feedback, and hold Ops Managers accountable for their performance and that of their departments.
• Leverage Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, rolling them into improvement plans for the functional area.
• Take proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and among the network.
• Work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, and other Sr. Operations Managers) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives in the area, and provide needed support and resources for other staff initiatives.

• Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.
• Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
• Walk in the FC and around the area frequently; the facility is over a quarter mile in length.
• Stand and/or walk an average of 5 miles daily.
• Work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, or not air‑conditioned.
• Access all areas of the building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation).

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of direct management experience.
• Experience with performance metrics and process improvement and Lean techniques.
• Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and terminations.
• Work flexible hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends, and holidays.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or experience in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience leading large contingent workforce programs.
• Experience working in fast‑paced environments, managing workload even during times of stress or escalated activity.
• Experience working cross‑functionally across several teams.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $200,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‐related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
