Job Overview
Ulrich Horse Barns is seeking an experienced Plant Foreman to lead day-to-day production activities on the shop floor of our metal fabrication facility. This role is a hands-on working leader responsible for supervising production crews, enforcing safety and quality standards, coordinating daily workflow, and supporting the Plant Manager in executing production plans.
The Plant Foreman plays a critical role in ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to specification, while maintaining a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
Key Responsibilities Production & Workflow- Direct and oversee daily shop floor operations related to the fabrication of metal components for horse barns.
- Assign work, prioritize jobs, and coordinate labor to meet production schedules and deadlines.
- Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available and properly staged for production activities.
- Monitor production output and communicate progress, issues, or delays to the Plant Manager.
- Provide direct supervision to fabrication, welding, and assembly employees.
- Lead by example as a hands‑on working foreman, actively supporting production as needed.
- Train, coach, and mentor employees on proper techniques, quality expectations, and safety practices.
- Enforce company policies, attendance standards, and performance expectations consistently.
- Support onboarding and training of new hires in coordination with the Plant Manager.
- Ensure fabricated products meet drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Perform routine quality checks and address workmanship issues immediately.
- Work with the Plant Manager to identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Enforce all safety policies and procedures on the shop floor.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and equipment safety requirements.
- Conduct daily safety checks and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations as required.
- Monitor equipment condition and report maintenance needs or breakdowns promptly.
- Ensure employees are using tools and equipment correctly and responsibly.
- Assist with coordinating preventative maintenance and minimizing downtime.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between production employees and plant leadership.
- Communicate staffing needs, production challenges, and improvement opportunities to the Plant Manager.
- Work closely with other departments as needed to support production goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade training preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in a lead, foreman, or supervisory role strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of metal fabrication processes, welding, and shop equipment.
- Basic understanding of quality standards and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands‑on leader with the ability to motivate and direct production teams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a practical, floor‑level approach.
- Ability to read basic drawings and specifications.
- Clear communicator who can give direction and feedback respectfully and effectively.
- Organized, dependable, and accountable with a strong work ethic.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
