The successful candidate will join the Supply Chain team and take responsibility for purchasing and expediting raw materials and outsourced products, ensuring suppliers meet delivery commitments and production requirements are maintained.

This role would suit an experienced Procurement Expeditor, Purchasing Coordinator, Materials Controller or Supply Chain professional looking for a varied position within a busy manufacturing environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for managing purchase orders, coordinating supplier deliveries and proactively resolving supply issues to ensure continuity of production.

Key responsibilities include:

* Creating, reviewing and maintaining purchase orders in line with material requirements.

* Regularly expediting suppliers to ensure deliveries are achieved on time.

* Obtaining order acknowledgements, confirming delivery dates and chasing overdue orders.

* Identifying potential material shortages, supplier delays and supply chain risks.

* Liaising with suppliers to resolve delivery issues and minimise production disruption.

* Supporting raw material purchasing and occasional indirect procurement requirements.

* Managing supplier relationships and monitoring delivery performance.

* Resolving invoice, pricing and quantity discrepancies alongside Finance and Quality teams.

* Supporting the return of non-conforming materials and supplier quality issues.

* Maintaining accurate purchasing records, supplier lead times and pricing information within ERP systems.

* Providing regular updates to internal departments regarding material availability and delivery schedules.

* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across purchasing and supply chain processes.

* Assisting other members of the Supply Chain team when required.

What We're Looking For

* Previous experience within purchasing, procurement, expediting or materials control.

* Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

* Good working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, ideally QAD or similar.

* Strong supplier communication and relationship management skills.

* Understanding of purchasing processes, lead times and material availability.

* Experience monitoring supplier deliveries and resolving supply issues.

* Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.

* Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.

* Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.

* A proactive, problem-solving approach with a focus on continuous improvement.

* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

The Individual

The business is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, including Procurement Expeditors, Purchasing Assistants, Purchasing Coordinators, Materials Controllers and Supply Chain Coordinators.

Previous experience using QAD would be advantageous, although candidates with experience of similar ERP systems will also be considered.
