CNC PROGRAMMER / TURNER
We are recruiting for a permanent CNC Programmer / Turner to join our Client near Mirfield, West Yorkshire.
We are looking for an experienced CNC Turner who is confident programming, setting and operating CNC lathes and can work independently from engineering drawings.
The role will involve producing a wide variety of precision components, from one-off and small batch work through to repeat production.
THE DUTIES OF A CNC PROGRAMMER / TURNER- Programming, setting and operating CNC lathes.
- Manufacture components from supplied engineering drawings.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications.
- Produce one-off, small batch and repeat production components.
- Write, edit and prove CNC programs at the machine.
- Select suitable tooling, speeds, feeds and machining methods.
- Set tools, work offsets and work holding independently.
- Inspect your own work using appropriate measuring equipment.
- Ensure components are manufactured to the required tolerances and quality standards.
- Work efficiently to meet scheduled production and delivery dates.
- Where possible, set and operate more than one machine.
- Identify machining or drawing issues and communicate these with the technical/production team.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Follow company quality procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Previous experience as a CNC Turner / Programmer / Setter.
- Ability to program, set and operate CNC lathes independently.
- Experience with Fanuc controls.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances.
- Good knowledge of cutting tools, speeds and feeds.
- Ability to use standard inspection equipment including micrometers, verniers and bore measuring equipment.
- Experience machining a range of engineering materials.
- Good problem‑solving skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Doosan / DN Solutions CNC lathes.
- Experience with driven tooling.
- Experience machining complex components, castings, forgings or difficult materials.
- Experience in a subcontract machining environment.
- Experience working on both one‑off and batch production.
Day shifts - flexible start times
Monday - Thursday: 6:00am - 3:00pm or 7:00am - 4:00pm
Friday: 6:00am - 11:00am or 7:00am - 12:00pm
