Position: Facilities Maintenance Technician 1

This position is based in Clemmons, NC.

Overview

This is the entry-level classification in the Maintenance Mechanic series. Employees receive on-the-job training in the maintenance of blow molding/injection molding machines and related equipment. The Facilities Maintenance Tech will also be responsible for general building maintenance tasks as indicated below.

Responsibilities
  • Understands and fully complies with all safety policies and procedures
  • Safely uses power tools and other hand tools to support troubleshooting and repair functions
  • Safely operates forklift, scissor lift, and articulating lift
  • Works cross-functionally with other maintenance personnel and departments to support production needs
  • Executes basic preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems
  • Performs general maintenance (e.g., changing light bulbs, exterior property maintenance, plumbing, roofing, office furniture install/removal, etc.) and manual repairs as needed
  • Completes facility inspections, prepares and submits reports of conditions in the building, and recommends actions to be taken
  • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization
  • Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Reads/interprets blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and other equipment documentation
  • Supports after-hours building needs and other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Ability to follow all safety protocols/procedures and PPE requirements
  • Ability to safely operate forklift/scissor lift/articulating lift and related equipment
  • Ability to work in a diverse, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to resolve practical problems of minor complexity
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees and write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to perform basic building maintenance such as electrical, plumbing, drywall, mechanical repairs
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and other equipment documentation
  • Clear written and verbal communication of technical details related to equipment issues and repair needs
  • Proficient in MS Office – primarily Excel, Word, One Drive
Education And Experience

Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two to four years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently talks or hears. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.

Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate. Safety glasses are required when working on equipment.
