Admissions Counselor

Job Summary

Supports the mission of the University by recruiting the best students, providing thorough application evaluation, making the most informed and aligned admissions decisions, and communicating with prospective students and stakeholders effectively. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Duties
  • 40% – Essential – Evaluation, Decision Making, and Communication: Evaluates academic credentials and reviews application information of potential students to ensure consistent alignment with current Admissions Office, Admissions Committee, and University procedures. Makes admissions decisions and initiates communication with prospective students and their parents utilizing University technology and processes to appropriately document these interactions.
  • 30% – Essential – Promotion, Representation, and Guidance: Promotes and represents the University to prospective students, their families, and school officials at college fairs, recruitment events, and information sessions. Assists in the development and operation of admissions sponsored events, with an emphasis on promoting diversity and university enrichment. Meets with prospective students and high school counselors regarding admissions activity and recruitment processes.

    Provides accurate information on admission and curriculum to foster positive prospective student experiences with the University.
  • 30% – Essential – Travel and Recruitment Territory/Population Management: Maintains a full travel or online contact schedule for assigned recruitment territory or population. Must follow the State of South Carolina's guide for travel expenses.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education – Bachelor's Degree and experience in student services programs
  • Licenses – Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000
  • Work Experience – 1+ years
Responsibilities
  • Job Knowledge – Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities – No supervisory duties, not responsible for supervising employees.
  • Budgetary Responsibilities – No budget responsibilities, no fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

Compensation Information

Expected Salary Range: $39,764.00 – $45,000.00
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
