The Career & Alumni Services Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting student success beyond the classroom by facilitating career development, employer engagement, and alumni relations for students enrolled in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program. This individual ensures that students approaching graduation are prepared to navigate the job market with confidence and are connected to employment opportunities, professional organizations, and ongoing College support after graduation.
The Coordinator also serves as a liaison between the College and its alumni, fostering lasting engagement and collaboration to enhance the student experience, support institutional advancement, and build professional networks for graduates. Other duties as assigned.
- 50% – Essential – Career Services: Design and implement tailored career development programs for students, including contract negotiation, practice/business ownership, credentialing, licensure, and NAVLE timelines. Create and deliver educational content in the Professional Development Unit of the curriculum. Collaborate with faculty and student organizations to embed career programming into co‑curricular activities. Maintain a centralized system (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity) for job postings, externships, internships, and employer connections.
Organize career fairs, employer panels, and networking events. Provide one‑on‑one advising to graduating students on job offers, geographic mobility, compensation, benefits analysis, and employer due diligence. - 25% – Essential – Employer & Industry Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with private practices, hospitals, and sectors aligned with the College’s missions. Lead recruitment and placement efforts through employer info sessions, job fairs, networking receptions, and virtual panels. Educate employers about the College’s mission and graduate profiles, coaching students on culture fit, mentorship, and long‑term growth potential. Partner with the Director of Outcomes Assessment to collect data on graduate outcomes and employment placement.
- 25% – Essential – Alumni Relations: Develop and implement a dynamic alumni engagement strategy focused on long‑term connection, mentorship, and professional development. Build and sustain an alumni mentor network for early‑career transition, especially in niche fields or underserved geographies. Collaborate with alumni as guest speakers, recruiters, preceptors, and contributors to students’ professional identity. Engage alumni through events, mentorship programs, newsletters, and social media.
Maintain updated alumni contact information in partnership with Institutional Advancement or Alumni Affairs.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree - Work Experience:
3+ years in career services, alumni engagement, student services, employer relations, or a closely related area, with demonstrated experience planning events or workshops.
- Education:
Master’s Degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field. - Work Experience:
5+ years working in a professional school or graduate‑level academic setting, familiarity with veterinary medicine employment trends and hiring practices, experience with career management software (e.g., Handshake).
Job Knowledge: Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures applicable to the role.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory duties.
Budgetary Responsibilities: No fiscal responsibility for the department’s budget.
Physical Requirements: Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself.
Working Conditions: Overnight travel (5%). Requires occasional evening and weekend hours for events, alumni programs, employer outreach, and conferences.

Hours:
37.5 per week.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $39,300.00 – $66,800.00. Salary determined by experience, knowledge, skills, and performance in accordance with Clemson’s compensation guidelines.
