The Career & Alumni Services Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting student success beyond the classroom by facilitating career development, employer engagement, and alumni relations for students enrolled in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program. This individual ensures that students approaching graduation are prepared to navigate the job market with confidence and are connected to employment opportunities, professional organizations, and ongoing College support after graduation.
The Coordinator also serves as a liaison between the College and its alumni, fostering lasting engagement and collaboration to enhance the student experience, support institutional advancement, and build professional networks for graduates.
- Career Services (50%) – Design and implement tailored career development programs. Create and deliver educational content. Collaborate with faculty and student organizations. Maintain centralized systems for job postings. Organize career fairs, employer panels, and networking events. Provide one‑on‑one advising to students nearing graduation.
- Employer & Industry Engagement (25%) – Cultivate partnerships with private practices, hospitals, and sectors. Lead recruitment and placement efforts. Educate employers about the College. Coach students on culture fit, mentorship, and growth. Partner with the Director of Outcomes Assessment to collect employment data.
- Alumni Relations (25%) – Develop a dynamic alumni engagement strategy. Build and sustain an alumni mentor network. Collaborate with alumni for speaking, recruiting, and preceptor roles. Engage alumni through events, mentorship programs, newsletters, and social media. Maintain up‑to‑date alumni contact information.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree - Work Experience:
3+ years in career services, alumni engagement, student services, employer relations, or a closely related area. Demonstrated experience planning events or workshops.
- Education:
Master’s Degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field. - Work Experience:
5+ years in a professional school or graduate‑level academic setting; familiarity with vet‑med employment trends; experience with career management software (e.g., Handshake).
