Fire Safety Officer II – Quick Response Vehicle
Position:
Fire Safety Officer II (Quick Response Vehicle Medic) at Clemson University. Responsible for providing comprehensive Fire & Emergency Medical Services, including emergency medical care, fire suppression, hazardous materials response, technical rescue, and fire prevention education.
Protect life and property by responding to fires, disasters, and emergency incidents. Deliver safe medical care in accordance with medical protocols while performing strenuous physical tasks when required.
Job Duties- 50% – Essential:
Respond to fire and emergency scenes, provide emergency medical services, and perform hazardous tasks that require extensive physical exertion. - 35% – Essential:
Administrative:
Conduct pre‑incident plans, perform fire prevention and public education activities, complete electronic reports, and maintain compliance with OSHA programs and EMS certifications. - 15% – Essential:
Supervisory:
Operate under a commanding officer while exercising independent judgment; may serve as Initial Incident Commander or resource leader during operations.
- Education:
High School diploma or equivalent. - License:
Driver's License Class
D. - Experience:
12 consecutive months of firefighting and/or EMS field experience. - Certifications:
National Registry Paramedic & SC Paramedic, NFPA Firefighter I & II, NIMS‑ICS 700, 800, 100, 200, CPR‑BLS; continuous medical control sponsorship.
- Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, Emergency Services, or a related field.
- 1+ year full‑time paid Advanced EMT or Paramedic experience; 1+ year full‑time paid firefighter experience.
- Firefighter Survival (SCFA 1139) and Rescuing Our Own – RIT (SCFA 1140).
- Apply fundamental job knowledge in varied situations.
- Employee has no supervisory or budgetary duties.
- Physical:
Able to stand, sit, walk, lift, and use hands for tasks; communicate effectively and recognize signs of hazards. - Working Conditions:
Exposure to heat/cold, dust/fumes, humidity, noise, vibration, chemical, electrical, radiation, burn, and biohazards; occasional overnight travel. - Schedule:
Standard 53‑hour work week. - Compensation:
Band 05 ($39,764.00 – $65,239.50), salary dependent on experience and performance. - Location:
Clemson, SC.
