DescriptionThe Temesvari lab in the Eukaryotic Pathogens Innovation Center (EPIC) and Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work on projects investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying the virulence of pathogenic amoebae, with a focus on identifying and developing novel therapeutic strategies. Applicants with a desire to drive research projects on pathogenic amoebae and who have experience in handling pathogenic microorganisms, as well as in general cellular and molecular biology techniques, are encouraged to apply.
The individual should be able to independently advance research projects, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and demonstrate solid organizational and management abilities. The position is NIH-funded.
The overall goal of the Temesvari laboratory is to understand the molecular mechanisms that regulate virulence in several pathogenic amoebae, including Entamoeba histolytica and Acanthamoeba castellanii. These parasites cause amoebic dysentery and keratitis, respectively. The Temesvari laboratory focuses on parasite-host interactions, parasite stress responses, vesicle trafficking, lipid rafts and drug repurposing.
