* JOB SUMMARY:

** Performs routine technical tasks and simple laboratory procedures to support the work of technical and professional laboratory staff.

* JOB DUTIES:

** 15% - Support of library preparation for sequencing of samples at the Institute of Human Genetics.
70% - Assist in data analysis (identification of datasets, download of datasets, quality control, submission of data into pipeline with support of others as needed)15% - Project communication duties within and outside the laboratory

* Minimum Requirements:

** A high school diploma and work experience in a related health care setting or in a clinical or research laboratory setting; or 12 semester hours of academic training in biology and/or chemistry; or registration as a Certified Laboratory Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or an equivalent registry; or successful completion of a formal program of instruction for laboratory assistants at a hospital or academic institution.
** RESPONSIBILITIES:
** JOB KNOWLEDGE Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Not responsible for supervising employees.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
** ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:
** Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
