The CARE Network serves as the university's hub for non-clinical case management and coordinated student support. We work with students experiencing a wide range of challenges, connecting them with resources and empowering them to overcome barriers to success and well-being. Coordinators manage a caseload of referred students and provide individualized, non-clinical support. Coordinators serve as advocates and resource navigators, guiding students through complex challenges while fostering self-advocacy, resilience, and growth.
In addition to case management, this role coordinates Clemson's basic needs support services, ensuring students have access to resources that address food insecurity, housing challenges, and other essential needs. This position contributes to crisis response efforts, outreach programming, and campus-wide education, while collaborating with faculty, staff, and campus partners to cultivate a responsive, supportive environment for all Clemson students.
Provides individualized care, advocacy, and non-clinical support to students navigating academic, personal, and financial challenges. Manages a caseload of students referred to the CARE Network to address barriers to well-being and academic persistence. Coordinates basic needs support services and contributes to crisis response, outreach, and education initiatives. Collaborates across campus to foster a responsive and holistic student support environment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job DutiesProvides non-clinical case management to students experiencing crisis and non-crisis concerns. Meets individually with students to assess needs, explore support strategies, and connect them to relevant campus and community resources. Follows up on referrals through the CARE Network and submissions to the Notification of Absence (NOA) system. Coordinates support with faculty, staff, families, and other stakeholders to ensure continuity of care.
Maintains accurate, detailed, and timely case documentation per departmental standards. Participates in regular case review meetings and contributes to collaborative decision-making.
Serves as primary contact for students experiencing basic needs insecurity (e.g., food, housing, financial). Maintains knowledge of campus and community resources, including public assistance programs. Develops educational materials to promote access and reduce stigma. Provides training and consultation for CARE case managers, faculty, staff, and student leaders on basic needs topics. Collaborates with partners to scale support efforts and address systemic barriers for under-resourced students.
Assists with coordinating the university response to critical student concerns (e.g., alcohol/drug misuse, threats of harm to self and others). Participates in the Dean On-Call (DOC) rotation to respond to after-hours student crises, primarily involving hospital transports. Provides follow-up case management for students involved in critical incidents. Represents the department in university-wide emergency response efforts, including the Emergency Management Council (EMC) and Emergency Operations Center (EOC), as needed.
Participates in file audits and provides feedback to staff to ensure consistency and compliance with documentation standards. Supports the development and refinement of case management protocols and practices. Facilitates onboarding and training sessions for new staff, student employees, and interns. Supports departmental assessment initiatives through data collection and analysis. Supervises undergraduate Peer Navigators, providing training, development, and oversight when assigned.
Collaboration:
Supports departmental outreach initiatives that promote education, prevention, and help-seeking behaviors. Contributes to presentations, workshops, and resource awareness events. Represents the department in university and divisional committees, work groups, and campus-wide collaborations. Partners with units across Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Public Safety, and other university divisions to advance integrated student support.
