The A&C Principal Engineer – New Product Introduction is a Technical Title Holder (TTH) within the Technical Oversight pathway, accountable for providing recognised technical expertise, independent assurance and continuity of technical authority across the full product lifecycle. Although primarily aligned to NPI, the role shall work as an integrated partner with Execution Product Engineering, Project Delivery, Services, Manufacturing, Quality and other relevant TTHs so that field experience, project learning, product performance and lifecycle constraints inform new-product decisions, and mature NPI solutions are transferred into execution and lifecycle support with clear ownership, evidence and residual risk.
As an A&C Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Operating as subject matter expert (SME) for A&C New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring adherence to BH-QUA-38 stage gates.
- Chairing technical reviews, ensuring completeness and adherence to process (ENGWW 18.07, SSDS-ENG-9.09, QW-PCS-NAI-ENG-502, QW-PCS-NAI-ENG-503) for new product introductions.
- Consolidating and approving Technology Readiness Level (TRL) assessments for new product introductions.
- Preparing Technical Maturity Assessments (TMAs) for new product development to support early customer engagement, front‑end development, and tendering activities.
- Governing technical maturity gap closure activities with product engineering resources.
- Leading technology acceptance activities with customers for new product introductions.
- Governing intellectual property assessments for new product introductions and new technology patents.
- Governing product safety assessments for new product introductions.
- Approving technical risks associated with new product introductions to support future risk management during project execution and delivery.
- Establishing and maintaining a structured technical partnership between NPI and Execution A&C teams, including Product Engineering, Project Execution, and Services, to ensure consistent technical decisions, clear interfaces, common design practices, and seamless handover of NPI outputs into customer projects and lifecycle support.
- Creating a two-way lifecycle feedback loop between NPI and Execution engineering communities to ensure project execution experience, manufacturing feedback, non‑conformances, root‑cause investigations, field performance, obsolescence, serviceability, and lessons learned are incorporated into future product requirements, architectures, qualification plans, design practices, and product roadmaps.
- Agreeing with relevant Execution‑based TTHs on technical ownership, review, and approval responsibilities at each lifecycle transition, including acceptance criteria for NPI release, deployment, product support, and subsequent product changes, while ensuring assumptions, deviations, and residual risks are visible and assigned to accountable owners.
- Working jointly with discipline and product TTHs…
