Position SummaryDelta Health Center is seeking a dedicated and patient-centered Dental Hygienist to join our growing dental team. The Dental Hygienist will provide preventive oral health services, patient education, and support to our dentists to ensure the delivery of high-quality dental care. This role is vital in promoting oral health and serving as a trusted partner in the lifelong health journey of our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional dental hygiene services including prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and application of preventive agents such as fluoride and sealants.
- Conduct patient screenings and assessments for oral health conditions, including reviewing medical and dental histories.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (x‑rays) as prescribed by the dentist.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with dentists, assistants, and other health professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Ensure infection control standards and OSHA regulations are consistently followed.
- Participate in community outreach and education initiatives, supporting Delta Health Center's mission of preventive and community-based care.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Current Mississippi Dental Hygiene License (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date).
- CPR/BLS certification (required).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient‑first approach.
- Commitment to teamwork, cultural sensitivity, and serving diverse populations.
- Prior experience working in community health, public health dentistry, or an FQHC setting.
- Experience with electronic dental records systems.
- Bilingual abilities (especially Spanish) a plus.
