This position is located in the Wildlife Bureau at the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. This will be a Wildlife Biologist/Supervisor position over the South Central Wildlife Management Areas including Old River, Wolf River, Leaf River, Theodore Mars, Little Biloxi, and Marion County
WMAs.
Seasoned Professional Environmental/Natural Resources position that requires deep technical knowledge of an environmental/natural resources area or thorough knowledge of multiple areas and to interpret on a broad basis the principles, theories and concepts of a scientific specialty and regulatory requirements. Employees in these roles are usually regarded as a statewide expert in their area, known outside the boundaries of state government;
influence standards at the agency, state, and national levels; prepare and review technical documents to ensure regulatory compliance; provide input and recommendations in legislation and rules. At this level, employees serve as technical leadership, developing and implementing strategies and procedures for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of environmental and natural resources data and information, designing research, and reviewing technical work of others.
This position will require knowledge of wildlife management, infrastructure management and will be responsible for management decisions on the South Central WMAs. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance will be a very important role of this position.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 4-6 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications: A Master'sDegree is preferred but not required. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
